Constructed in 1850, the photo was taken by Frances Benjamin Johnston, a prominent American photographer, either in 1939 or 1944. The image is preserved on an 8 x 10 inch safety film negative and is part of the Carnegie Survey of the Architecture of the South, which is documented by the Library of Congress.
