Constructed in 1830, the structure underwent significant renovations in 1832, including the addition of a porch by Seaborn Jones, the son-in-law of the original owner, John Howard.
In 1878, Capt. Slade acquired the property and transformed it into a school for girls, reflecting the educational advancements of the era. The building is characterized by its elegant columns and porches, typical of the architectural styles prevalent in the early 19th century.
