This aerial linen postcard captures a sweeping view of Bancroft Hall and the high-power radio towers at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Founded in 1845, the Naval Academy has trained generations of officers along the banks of the Severn River, and Bancroft Hall remains one of the largest single dormitories in the world, housing the entire Brigade of Midshipmen.
From the 1930s through the 1940s, American "linen" postcards reached their golden age, prized for their textured finish and vivid, saturated colors. This edition comes from the Tichnor Brothers Collection of Boston, and it has been carefully restored and color-revived by KNOWOL to bring back its original brightness and detail.
