About This Historic Map

Drawn from an elevated bird's-eye perspective, this map presents Azusa in the late 1880s, when the young town was shaped by its railroad, street grid, orchards and farmland, and the towering San Gabriel Mountains rising behind it. The overall view sweeps across neatly platted blocks and cultivated groves, with the depot and hotel highlighted below the main scene.

Notable landmarks shown on the map include the A.T. & S.F. Depot, the Hotel vignette, and the mountain range framing the town, along with the many streets, farms, and orchards that shaped life around Azusa in the 1880s.

It captures the orderly streets, the orchard rows, and the mountains on the horizon, and the memories that keep families connected to Azusa.
