About Barrington, Illinois

Barrington is an Illinois village shaped by nineteenth-century settlement, rail service, and rebuilding. Jesse F. Miller and William Van Orsdal reached Barrington Township in 1834, and a railroad station was moved near its modern location and named Barrington in 1854. After several late-century fires damaged downtown blocks, residents replaced many lost frame structures with brick and stone buildings.
