About Bradley, Illinois
Bradley is a village in Kankakee County whose history was shaped by manufacturing and later retail development. Known earlier as North Kankakee, it became Bradley City in 1895 and Bradley in 1896. The 2020 census recorded 15,419 residents.
- Industrial FoundationsThe David Bradley Manufacturing Co. arrived in North Kankakee in April 1895, while Kroehler furniture and Roper stove factories later became major employers.
- Retail TransitionBradley Square was built in 1989 with Wal-Mart as its first tenant, followed by Northfield Square Mall in 1990.
- Village LandscapeBradley covers 6.93 square miles, all land, and borders Kankakee to the south and Bourbonnais to the west.
- Modern ManufacturingCSL Behring operates a plant near southern Bradley that produces plasma-derived medications and equipment.
