This vintage postcard welcomes you to the Brownie Motel & Restaurant, which once stood three miles north of Bel Air along U.S. Route 1 in Maryland's picturesque Harford County. In the era of the great American road trip, U.S. Route 1 was one of the nation's earliest numbered highways, stretching the length of the East Coast and carrying travelers past roadside motels and diners just like this one.
From the 1930s through the 1940s, "linen" postcards captured small-town America in warm, saturated color on textured card stock, and the Tichnor Brothers of Boston were among the most prolific publishers of the form. This edition has been carefully restored and color-revived by KNOWOL, bringing back the bright, optimistic palette that made these cards so beloved.
A charming piece of Maryland history for any wall, printed on museum-quality archival paper and available in three unframed sizes. Fast, free U.S. shipping. Printed in the USA.
