About Buffalo, Minnesota
Buffalo is a city of 16,168 people on Buffalo Lake, about 42 miles northwest of Minneapolis, and it serves as the county seat of Wright County. Three men, Amasa Ackley, Jackson Taylor and G. A. J. Overton, platted the village in 1856 and named it for the lake. Its post office opened that same year and has stayed open ever since.
- An orchestra since 1995The Buffalo Community Orchestra started in 1995 and now has more than 50 members. Each summer it plays its Concert in the Park series free of charge, with support from businesses and residents of Buffalo and nearby towns.
- On stage since 1983The Buffalo Community Theater has been putting on plays since at least 1983. Two other groups perform in the area as well: a bell choir called the Wright Ringers and the Wright County Chamber Chorus.
- KRWC 1360 AM since 1971The radio station KRWC has served Buffalo and Wright County since 1971 from just outside the city limits, carrying local news and Buffalo high school sports. The Wright County Journal Press, which also prints The Drummer, has published since 1930.
