About Cambridge, New York

The Cambridge patent was granted in 1761 on the condition that settlers come at once. Its owners offered 100 acres to each of the first thirty families who would live on the land. John McClung and Samuel Bell were among the first, arriving between 1761 and 1763. The Revolutionary War drove many away, but many came home after it.
