About the Town of Cazenovia, New York
John Lincklaen founded Cazenovia while working as an agent for the Holland Land Company. He named it for his supervisor, Theophile Cazenove, the company's Agent General. The town was formed in 1793 from Whitestown and Paris, before Madison County existed.
