This vintage linen postcard captures the Club Charles, located on Charles Street at Preston in Baltimore, Maryland. Long known as one of the city's grand north–south thoroughfares, Charles Street runs through the heart of Baltimore, lending the club an address well known to locals and travelers alike during the mid-twentieth century.
From roughly the 1930s through the 1940s, American postcards entered their celebrated "linen" era, prized for their textured paper stock and bright, saturated colors. This card comes from the work of Tichnor Bros. Inc. of Boston, whose images are preserved today in the well-known Tichnor Brothers Collection. This edition has been carefully restored and color-revived by KNOWOL.
