This restored linen postcard captures a clubhouse on the golf course along the Pocomoke River in Pocomoke City, Maryland, a scene of easy leisure on the Eastern Shore. Set in Worcester County, Pocomoke City takes its name from the river that winds past it, long a vital artery for trade and travel through the region's cypress lowlands.
From roughly the 1930s through the 1940s, "linen" postcards reached their golden age, prized for their textured finish and vivid, sunlit color. This image comes from the work of Tichnor Bros. Inc. of Boston, whose output survives today in the celebrated Tichnor Brothers Collection. This edition has been carefully restored and color-revived by KNOWOL.
