About De Witt, Nebraska

From the Andreas History of the State of Nebraska: "Previous to the starting of DeWitt, the adjoining country was quite well settled, and the town of Swan City had an existence on Swan Creek, west of DeWitt. The advantages of a railroad insured the success of the new town, and it was not long until Swan City was removed to the new site."
