About Edgington, Illinois

Mr. Dunlap finished his house and returned to Steubenville, Ohio. He moved his family here the next spring, in 1835. Daniel Edgington and his family came with them. These pioneers started the first settlement in this part of the county. It was known as the Dunlap settlement.

Daniel Edgington gave three acres of choice prairie next to the village of Edgington for a church. The congregation built its meeting-house there in 1843 for about 2,000 dollars. In 1877 the church still worshiped in that building.
