About Farmers, Kentucky
In 1887 Farmers was home to the large lumber mills of Lewis Emery, beside the C. and O. railroad. A Frankfort paper called it one of the largest lumber mills in Kentucky. Emery ran another mill at St. Albans, West Virginia. Young John L. Scott of Frankfort came to run its shipping department.
- Lumber town historyIn 1907 the Page Lumber Company of Indiana bought the large mills and all the holdings of the Licking River Lumber Company at Farmers.
