From the Garden Home History Project: "In the year 1911, the community of Garden Home consisted of a post office, a train depot, two stores, the beginning of a school and eight dairies. Shorthorn, Elco, Kosmalski, Feldman, Brown, Fuhrer Brothers, Shattuck and Marugg were the names of the dairies in the vicinity."
