This restored linen postcard captures the Governor's residence in Annapolis, Maryland, the official home of the state's chief executive in the heart of Anne Arundel County. Annapolis has served as Maryland's capital since 1695 and was even the temporary capital of the United States in 1783–1784, when the Continental Congress met in its statehouse.
From the 1930s through the 1940s, "linen" postcards reached their golden age, prized for their textured finish and vibrant, saturated colors. This edition comes from the work of Tichnor Bros. Inc. of Boston, preserved today in the celebrated Tichnor Brothers Collection. It has been carefully restored and color-revived by KNOWOL to bring back its original warmth and detail.
