This cheerful "Greetings from Maryland" postcard captures the spirit of the Old Line State, celebrating its capitol and civic landmarks in a classic souvenir design. Maryland was one of the original thirteen colonies, and its capital city of Annapolis served briefly as the capital of the United States from 1783 to 1784, hosting the Congress of the Confederation in the historic Maryland State House , the oldest U.S. state capitol still in continuous legislative use.
From roughly 1930 to 1945, American "linen" postcards reached their golden age, printed on textured card stock that gave their bright inks a soft, painterly glow. This edition comes from the celebrated Tichnor Brothers Collection, produced by Tichnor Bros. Inc. of Boston, and has been carefully restored and color-revived by KNOWOL to bring back the vivid tones the original artists intended.
