About Hickory, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania
From an 1870s atlas and history of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania: "About 1815-16 a school-house was built near the south line of what is now Hickory township, on the road running south from Neshannock United Presbyterian Church."
From an 1870s atlas and history of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania: "Jared Irwin came from Ireland when twenty-one years old, and staid for a while in the city of Baltimore, Md., afterwards going to Kentucky, thence to Washington county, Pa., and finally locating in Hickory township, Lawrence county, in 1797-8, on the farm now owned by Isaac Reynolds. On that farm he built the first cabin, and to get help was obliged to go as far as Edenburg, in Mahoning township."
