About Holiday Beach, Texas

Holiday Beach is a community of 526 people in Aransas County, on the eastern shore of Copano Bay. It lies along State Highway 35, roughly 11 miles to the northeast of Rockport.

In the mid-1960s, investors from Dallas formed the Copano Land Company to build homes beside the bay, and the first lots went on sale around 1964. The subdivision kept growing for the rest of the century as people built houses on the water and dug canals so their boats could reach the bay.

  • About 1,000 people in 2000By 2000 an estimated 1,000 people lived in Holiday Beach, a few decades after the first lots were sold. The Census Bureau began counting it as a census-designated place of its own in 2010.
  • Harvey came ashore hereIn August 2017, Hurricane Harvey made landfall at Holiday Beach itself, and the storm destroyed the area. When the census was taken in 2020, 526 people were living in the community.
