This vintage linen postcard advertises the life insurance business of Homer E. Turner, a Chartered Life Underwriter, once located at 105 West Bel Air Avenue in Aberdeen, Maryland. A small town in Harford County, Aberdeen has long been linked to Aberdeen Proving Ground, the U.S. Army installation established here in 1917 that brought new business and bustle to the surrounding community.
From roughly 1930 to 1945, American postcards entered their golden age of "linen" printing, named for the textured, fabric-like paper that gave images their soft glow and saturated color. Published by Tichnor Bros. Inc. of Boston, this card belongs to the celebrated Tichnor Brothers Collection. This edition has been carefully restored and color-revived by KNOWOL, bringing its original warmth back to life.
