About Homestead, Oklahoma

Homestead is an unincorporated community of 41 people in northern Blaine County. Its post office opened on January 26, 1893, and the town was laid out beside the tracks of the Choctaw Northern Railroad, which later became part of the Rock Island, before Oklahoma became a state. The Oklahoma Territorial Census found 150 residents here in 1905, but the town lost its rail service around 1926.
