Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, near Port Deposit, Maryland , a glimpse of the bustling commercial heart that kept countless sailors supplied during their training. Opened in 1942 on the bluffs above the Susquehanna River in Cecil County, Naval Training Center Bainbridge grew into one of the U.S. Navy's major World War II training installations, processing hundreds of thousands of recruits.
From the 1930s through the 1940s, American "linen" postcards reached their golden age, their textured paper stock and saturated colors capturing everyday scenes in vivid detail. This edition comes from the celebrated work of Tichnor Bros. Inc. of Boston, whose images live on in the Tichnor Brothers Collection. It has been carefully restored and color-revived by KNOWOL to bring back its original warmth and clarity.
