About Iron River, Wisconsin
Iron River is a Bayfield County town with 1,240 residents recorded in the 2020 census. Its 34.9 square miles include 31.5 square miles of land and 3.4 square miles of water. The town contains the Iron River census-designated place and the unincorporated community of Topside.
- Logging EraDuring the late 19th and early 20th centuries, trains made several daily trips between Superior and Hurley, carrying timber to markets and transporting workers.
- Blueberry FestivalThe Iron River Lion's Club holds an annual July festival at Moon Lake Park with rides, crafts, food, and games.
