About Jackman, Maine
Jackman takes its name from Captain James Jackman. In the 1830s, the State of Maine hired him to build the road that connected the United States with Canada.
On April 8, 2024, Jackman lay in the path of a total solar eclipse. Clear skies were forecast here while clouds threatened most of the path. More than 10,000 visitors filled the town of fewer than a thousand people, probably its largest crowd ever.
