About Keithsburg, Illinois
Keithsburg is a city in Mercer County, set on the east bank of the Mississippi River near Pope Creek. Robert Keith laid out the community in 1837, though settlement remained limited through 1846. River floods have shaped its recent history, including severe damage in 1993 and another inundation after levee breaks in 2008.
