About Kensett, Arkansas
From the CALS Encyclopedia of Arkansas: "The small settlement was named for Thomas Kensett, a member of the rail lineβs board of directors. The post office opened on October 4, 1872, under postmaster John A. Barnett."
From the CALS Encyclopedia of Arkansas: "Before the Civil War, a scattered collection of farms existed in the area. The areaβs first post office, called Frankfort, was established in 1837 about a mile north of the present town of Kensett."
