About La Follette, Wisconsin
La Follette lies along the southern edge of Burnett County, adjoining Polk County. The 2020 census recorded 559 residents, and the unincorporated communities of Coomer and Hertel are within the town. Its early civic history includes a town board organization meeting in 1901.
- A Wisconsin NamesakeThe town was named for Robert M. La Follette, who served as both a United States senator and Wisconsin governor.
- First Board MeetingThe new town board convened to organize La Follette on April 17, 1901.
- Five Road DistrictsAt that meeting, officials created five road districts and chose superintendents to oversee their roads.
