About Lake Elmo, Minnesota
Lake Elmo, in Washington County, takes its name from the nearby lake. Farmland still occupies much of the city, while State Highway 36 follows its northern boundary and Interstate 94 follows its southern edge.

- Land and WaterThe city encompasses 24.36 square miles, including 22.25 square miles of land and 2.11 square miles of water.
- First FarmLake Elmo began with a single farm established in 1852 near today's Manning Avenue and 30th Street.
