About Lakefield, Minnesota
Lakefield is a city in Jackson County, Minnesota, where the 2020 census counted 1,735 people. Its beginnings are tied to the railroad's arrival in 1879 and to nearby Heron Lake, which inspired the community's name. Incorporated in 1887, Lakefield occupies 1.28 square miles of land.
