About Lawrenceville, Ohio
Emanuel and Margaret Circle made the first plat of lots here in 1843. They called the place Noblesville. When it got a post office, there was already another Noblesville in Ohio. So the town was renamed Lawrenceville for Judge Lawrence, then a member of Congress from this district.
About 1836, Elias Over cleared some woods and built his store there. Later, three Germans built and ran a pottery at that same spot. They employed workers to make crockery ware of every kind.
- An early township high schoolIn 1874, a high school for all of German Township opened at Lawrenceville. It was among the earliest township high schools. Decades later, it still offered advanced studies to pupils of the township.
