About Lyonsdale, New York
Lyonsdale honors its founder, Caleb Lyon, and shares a name with its main community. Settlers arrived there in 1819. Lyon pushed hard for building the Black River Canal. Greig gave up land to create the new town in 1873, and wood pulp and other forest goods long kept it going.
