About Meservey, Iowa
From the Lewis Publishing Company: "Since that time good graded schools have been established in Thornton and Meservey, and the country schools have received their full share of attention and rank with other country schools of the county."
From the History of Cerro Gordo County: "The new railroad established a station at Meservey in the extreme southwestern corner of the county and township, and another at Swaledale not far from the township line in Pleasant Valley township. Neither of these places, however, was satisfactory to a large number of the people of Grimes, and a station was demanded at Thornton or where Thornton now is."
