Mexican Migratory Laborers in California 1937
In March 1937, a group of Mexican migratory laborers works in Imperial Valley, California. They thin and weed cantaloupe plants under the supervision of a Japanese field boss, earning thirty cents per hour. Wax paper caps protect the young plants from cold and support growth. This image is part of the Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information Collection, documenting agricultural labor during the Great Depression.
