About Middle Frisco, New Mexico
Middle Frisco is a community of 51 people in Catron County, in southwestern New Mexico, and it forms part of San Francisco Plaza. Its roots reach back to the 1860s, when Mexican-American settlers founded a row of small villages beside the San Francisco River. They called them the Upper, Middle and Lower San Francisco Plazas, and Middle Frisco still carries the name of the middle one.
- Milligan's Plaza upriverAfter the first families came, Anglo settlers gave the upper village a new name, Milligan's Plaza, after a man who kept a store and a saloon there. A guide to southwestern New Mexico traces the start of the town of Reserve to these river villages.
- 51 people in 2020The 2020 census counted 51 residents in Middle Frisco. The Census Bureau gives the community an area of 0.6 square miles, with 0.545 square miles of land and 0.055 square miles of water. Its children attend school in the Reserve Independent School District.
