About Milo-Grogan, Ohio

Milo-Grogan joins the names of two neighbors. Milo honored Milo Streets, who ran a brickyard at St. Clair and Third Avenue. Grogan honored John Patrick Grogan, who kept a grocery and post office on Cleveland Avenue. Nobody could tell where one ended, so people joined the names.

J.A. Jeffrey took care of the workers at his Jeffrey Manufacturing plant here. He opened one of the earliest factory infirmaries in 1889. A cooperative store followed in 1904. In 1912 he added a cafeteria and a loan fund that helped workers build homes.
