About Naturita, Colorado
From the Colorado Encyclopedia: "While farmers in the countyβs northeastern area could draw water from the Uncompahgre and Gunnison Rivers, southwestern Montrose County was far drier, making irrigation even more crucial for early white settlers. In 1889 the Naturita Cattle and Land Company built the first reservoir for irrigation on Wrightβs Mesa."
