About Olympia, South Carolina
In 1907 the Handbook of South Carolina described the Olympia Cotton Mills at Columbia. It called the mill the largest of its kind under a single roof anywhere in the world.
The Olympia Mills Company offered 2,500 dollars toward a brick chapel if the Bishop raised the same amount. Trinity Church gave its Easter offering to the fund. The cornerstone was laid on July 21, 1901. At the first service that November, all 500 seats were full.
