About Palestine, Texas
Palestine, the Anderson County seat, grew from a trading post established around 1843 into an incorporated city in 1846. Rail connections arriving in 1872 helped stimulate its development, while the present courthouse opened in 1914. Today, its recorded heritage includes 23 National Register sites and a tourist railroad linking Palestine and Rusk.
