About Paynesville, Missouri
Paynesville is a village in Pike County, Missouri, where the 2020 census recorded 60 residents. Andrew Forgey laid out the town in 1831 after settling there as early as 1823. Its name honors William Payne, a St. Louis merchant who supplied Forgey's first stock of goods.
