About Pine Level, North Carolina
From the North Carolina Gazetteer: "Pine Level town in E Johnston County. Settled about 1868; inc. 1874. Named for pine forest and level land of the area. Alt. 155. Produces cottonseed oil."
From the Town of Pine Level: "During this same year, 1854, William Berry Oliver and Tom T. Oliver, brothers, came to Pine Level from South Carolina and operated a turpentine distillery and hand press cotton gin as partners."
