About Richardton, North Dakota
From the McLean County Historical Society: "RICHARDTON: Originally called SPRING VALLEY when established in 1881 for the numerous springs in the area. In the fall of 1882 agents of the Hamburg-American Steamship Co., of New York selected and platted this site on the N.P.R.R. to be the location of a settlement for their convenience."
