This vintage linen postcard captures a tranquil scene in Pocomoke Park, a leafy retreat in Pocomoke City, Maryland. Set along the Pocomoke River in Worcester County, the town takes its name from the river that has shaped its life and commerce for generations on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
From the 1930s through the 1940s, "linen" postcards enjoyed their golden age, prized for their textured finish and bright, painterly colors. This edition comes from the work of Tichnor Bros. Inc. of Boston, whose images are preserved today in the celebrated Tichnor Brothers Collection. We've carefully restored and color-revived this scene here at KNOWOL, bringing its original warmth back to life.
