About Selfridge, North Dakota
From the McLean County Historical Society: "SELFRIDGE: Settlement began in 1910; post office established May 20, 1912 with Eben W. Philput, postmaster; incorporated as a village in 1919. There are three versions as to the origin of its name."
From the Congressional Record: "Several theories exist on how Selfridge received its name. Some say the name describes the ridge of hills in the area, while others say it was named for a Milwaukee Road Railroad official."
