About Shepherd, Michigan
Shepherd began as Salt River, settled by lumberman Isaac Shepherd and others. A railroad station on Shepherd's estate gave the village its present name, and residents rebuilt after an 1887 fire destroyed most of the community.
- Local festivalSince 1958, the village has hosted the Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival each year. It has grown to include exhibits, crafts, music, food and a parade.
