Annapolis, MD: Smoke Park and Severn River, from Bancroft Hall, U. S. Naval Academy

Beautifully designed. Printed on archival paper for modern walls.

$18.99

This vintage linen postcard looks out over Smoke Park and the Severn River from Bancroft Hall at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Founded in 1845, the Academy has trained officers for the United States Navy for generations, and its setting along the Severn , where the river meets the Chesapeake Bay , has long made Annapolis one of the most storied waterfront towns in America.

From the 1930s through the 1940s, American "linen" postcards reached their golden age, prized for their textured paper stock and vivid, saturated color. This card was originally published by Tichnor Bros. Inc. of Boston, whose work survives today in the celebrated Tichnor Brothers Collection. This edition has been carefully restored and color-revived by KNOWOL, bringing the scene back to its original brightness.

A charming piece of Annapolis history for any wall, printed on museum-quality archival paper and available in three unframed sizes. Fast, free U.S. shipping. Printed in the USA.
