About Solon, New York
Solon takes its name from Solon, the lawmaker of ancient Greece. The land lay in the Military Tract, which paid soldiers of the American Revolution. Settlers arrived in 1794, and the town was carved out of Homer in 1798. It had 2,311 people in 1840.
