This restored linen postcard captures The New Ideal Diner along U.S. Route 40 in Aberdeen, Maryland, a classic roadside stop from the era when this highway served as one of the East Coast's great cross-country motoring arteries. Located in Harford County, Aberdeen sits along the route that connected travelers between the cities of the Atlantic seaboard, where diners like this one offered a welcome meal and a moment's rest.
From roughly the 1930s through the 1940s, American "linen" postcards reached their golden age, prized for their textured finish and bright, saturated colors. This edition comes from the celebrated Tichnor Brothers Collection of Boston, and it has been carefully restored and color-revived by KNOWOL to bring back its original warmth and detail.
