About Topsail Beach, North Carolina
From the Town of Topsail Beach: "Soon after J.G. Anderson developed the southernmost end of the island and named it New Topsail Beach, the island has been called Topsail."
From the North Carolina Historic Preservation Office: "In addition, all modern jet aircraft engines, especially supersonic craft, have been built upon the original ramjet design developed here. Topsail Beach was the precursor of bases at Inyokern, California, White Sands, New Mexico, and Cape Canaveral, Florida."
