About Trade Lake, Wisconsin

Trade Lake is a town of 904 people in southwestern Burnett County, and Polk County wraps around its southern and eastern edges. Its first settlement took shape at Four Corners after Charles Anderson arrived in 1868. Four Corners and the smaller community of Trade Lake both sit inside the town today, and Pole Cat Crossing reaches partly into it.

  • Settled in 1868Charles Anderson reached this part of Burnett County in 1868 and made his home at Four Corners. His homestead there became the first settlement in what is now the Town of Trade Lake.
  • Big and Little Trade LakeBig Trade Lake and Little Trade Lake lie near the middle of the town that shares their name. The community of Trade Lake grew up by the northeast corner of the smaller lake. Water covers 3.0 of the town's 35.5 square miles.
